Dolphin Thought Since before I can remember, I have been a Dolphin Fan. I think maybe the doctors that delivered me wore replica Marino jerseys as they delivered me. Probably talking about how that year was gonna be the year we returned to glory and rose the Lombardi trophy again for the first time in years. Growing up in the house with a Redskin Fan (my dad) I didn't get a lot of the knowledge I have about the Dolphins until later on in my life. And there was always one thing that I heard over and over again. How the '72 Dolphins went undefeated and how everyone wishes we could have a team like that again. Almost saying that we have no future to look forward to, only a past to look back on. Now being born in '84 I didn't get to enjoy the wonder years of the Dolphins. But I did get to see Marino, Clayton, Duper, and a personal favorite of mine, McDuffie. I saw how close we were so many times, to jumping the hurdle and winning the Championship. Now that Marino is gone, the collective Dolfan statement is, we need to find another Marino. Or, man I wish Dan was here now, with the Defense we have and the RB we have, man we'd be great. I too have occasionally gotten into that state of mind. But I think its time we move on, I think its time we look at what we have now, and not what we had then. Of course we shouldn't forget the great moments of the teams and players in the past but we need to learn to appreciate the team and players we have now, and what they could be. We have two great receivers in Chambers and Boston, with Tolver coming along nicely I believe. We have an awesome Defense with lockdown corners, and great Ends. We have a proven kicker in Mare, even though last year wasn't his best, he will be great again this year. We have young QB that has a tremendous upside and could do great things for us. And then the best thing of all we have a killer RB. A guy who can run the ball 40 times in one game and then after the game go run on his underwater treadmill. A guy who led the league in rushing yards two years ago, and led the league in rushes last year. We are very close and have the talent to do great things with this team. We have to face it that there will never be another team exactly like the '72 team. We have to realize that there will NEVER be another Dan Marino. But we have to look forward to the seasons to come, and the potential championships we can win. I'm tired of hearing about how Oakland and Green Bay and whoever else has the best fans. Damnit we are the best fans, and we need to prove it. So wear you Dolphin gear proudly and turn up the Dolphin Fight song as you're on the way to work, or riding to the game. Because " Miami Has the Dolphins the Greatest Football Team".
