Questions, Questions, Questions………
So many questions are whirling around the team right now. Will
Ogun re-sign? Will Ricky be fined or will he win the appeal? Will
Feeley start? And if he does, will he be worth what we gave up for
him? Will our O-line be what we need it to be? Will Wanny be able
to bring this team back to the playoffs? Will Boston be the WR we
need him to be? What will our offense be like this year?
All these questions are legitimate questions. The problem is the
answers won’t be given for a couple of months. So for now
all we can do is speculate. Some other fans and I have been discussing
how the media talks about the phins. About how all we hear is how
bad the team is gonna be this year, and how stupid we are for picking
up Boston. It reminds me in a way of how they said how good we would
be last year. I don’t know how many articles I read last year,
where the author would say how we would win the AFC and possibly
the Super Bowl. I’ll be honest, it got my hopes up. I came
into the season thinking only what the media was saying. I am now
a more mature and intelligent fan.
This year is different. I know a whole lot more now than I knew
then. I am optimistic by nature, but not blind and dumb. The Dolphins
have a lot of things that they need to figure out before the season
starts. But it all starts with figuring out where this team wants
to go. Do we want to be the Dolphins that we have been for the past
four years or so? Ever since we lost to the Jags in the playoffs
in ’99-’00. We have still had winning records but we
all would agree the attitude of winning is gone. You can blame that
on the coach or the QB or whatever you want. The fact is, we have
to get the mind set of winning back. We have lost a lot of respect
around the league. We are known as a soft team. We used to be a
team that other teams would practice harder than usual when they
were playing us next Sunday. Now we are just another team. I hate
that. We need to come out this year, and bust some heads. Earn back
the respect we have lost. I don’t care how we do it; it just
needs to be done. And it starts in my opinion with our Front Office.
We can’t take losing lightly. We have a team in our Division
that has an opportunity to break our record for consecutive victories.
We will be the ones they have to beat, in order to do it. That right
there should give us enough motivation to come out and beat them
up one side and down the other.
The team stuff will take care of itself. The NFL will make its
ruling on Ricky, Ogun will either re-sign or sit, and Boston will
either play well or not. Our O-line will either protect our QB and
give Ricky room or they will let our QB get crushed and Ricky get
pounded. We will either be playing in January or we will be watching
again. It’s the attitude that we can start working on now.
Let the media talk and think what they want to think. But its not
gonna come down to who looks best on paper. It will come down to
who plays when its time to play. I hope that this team goes out
this year and gets our respect back. I for one am excited about
the possibilities and potential that this team has. Its time for
us to go out and show why so many of us fans think we can win every
week. I truly feel that if the questions this team has right now
are answered and answered well, then this will be the “Year
of the Fin”.
